INTER BOARDS
COORDINATION COMMISSION

ACCREDITATION

Accreditation serves as a formal evaluation and approval process conducted by an authoritative body to ensure that Qualification Awarding Bodies (QABs) meet established standards of quality and compliance. In Pakistan, this responsibility is undertaken by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC). Before commencing operations within the country, foreign examination bodies are required to secure accreditation from the IBCC. This rigorous process verifies the credibility, relevance, and alignment of their qualifications with Pakistan’s national education standards.

The accreditation process involves a comprehensive examination of the QAB’s governance, curriculum alignment, assessment standards, and quality assurance practices. Through this, the IBCC ensures that the qualifications awarded by these bodies uphold the integrity and excellence expected within Pakistan’s education framework. With the enactment of Act No. XIII of 2023, the IBCC was formally empowered to regulate foreign examination boards operating in Pakistan. This landmark legislation introduced, for the first time in the nation’s history, guidelines and criteria to monitor and oversee the functioning of these boards.
